A celebration of life for Johnnie Dalene Duke Gamble, 80, of Hanceville will be Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home; James Parker and Randall Waldrep officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Mrs. Gamble went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 30, 2017. I’m sure Jesus met her with open arms as she lived each day for Him and her life always pointed others to Him. She loved all people and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She worked in her church in Bible School, taught Sunday School, G.A.’s and played piano. Her life was a witness to God’s love and grace. She became a nurse after rearing her children and worked until she became legally blind caring for others. Even then, she didn’t stop. She carried on and took every opportunity to show others Jesus. A life well lived and a job well done.
Meeting her in Glory are her husband of 59 years, Joe Baxter Gamble Sr., her parents, Welcome Parks Duke Jr. and Emily Ruth Wilhite Duke; brother, Dewayne Parks Duke Sr., daughters, Lehnessia Gamble and Karen Gamble; grandchildren, Patrick Ryan, Jared McAnnally and Cyndy Chaney and great grandson, Jon Kyle Chaney.
Dalenes’s surviving children are Charlotte (Alan) Chaney, Jolene (David) Bethke, Cherrie (Ron) Haney, Joe (Tammy) Gamble Jr., Terry (Wanda) Gamble Sr., Jason (Sarah) Gamble, and Katrina (Levon) Parker; 42 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; siblings, Gary Joe Duke, Jerry Lee (Melody) Duke and Joyace (Rev. Jerald) Adams and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wants to give a special thank you to the staff at Southern Care Hospice.
