James Henry Pippenger, 86, of Haleyville, entered into rest on April 28, 2017 at Lakeland Community Hospital.
Mr. Pippenger was born on July 10, 1930, in Amagon, Arkansas. James served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received two Bronze Camp Stars and a Korean Service Medal. He was a 1949 graduate of Beedeville High School in Arkansas. He was known as "Henry" by family and "Pip" by friends. Henry was a farmer and worked in several manufacturing companies throughout his life. He was a very talented billiard player, who won several state championships. Henry was a much loved father and grandfather.
Family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 12pm-1pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where memorial services will be held at 1pm.
Henry is survived by his sons, Jerry B. Pippenger and his wife Mary, Karl T. Pippenger; daughter, Elizabeth Garrison and her husband Michael; grandchildren, James Manuel Pippenger, Kaitlin Elise Garrison; great grandchild, Emily Ann Pippenger; and special friend, Judy Colburn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Vickery Pippenger; parents, James S. and Nellie E. Pippienger; brothers, Elbert Breeden, Thomas Breeden, Karl Junior Pippenger, and Robert A. Pippenger.
