Beauty of Hope: pageant raises funds for Relay For Life

HANCEVILLE – Fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life is well underway leading up to the Cullman area’s main event next week. On Friday evening, Cullman Primary Care’s Relay For Life teamed up with the team from Wallace State to host the 2017 Beauty of Hope Pageant on the campus of the college. Audience members voted for the People's Choice Award by donating.

The pageant had eight age divisions: 0-11 months, 12-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-15 years and 16-18 years. Each of these divisions handed out awards for Prettiest Eyes, Hair, Dress, Smile and Most Photogenic, as well as the queen and her alternates. The winners and their awards for each division are as follows:

Baby Miss: 0-11 months

  • Haven Marie Richter: Prettiest Smile, 3rd alternate
  • Emersyn York: Most Photogenic, 1st alternate
  • Layken Roberts: Prettiest Dress, Beauty of Hope Baby Queen
  • Sabrina Terry: Prettiest Eyes, Prettiest Hair, 2nd alternate

Toddler Miss: 12-23 months

  • Piper Shields: Prettiest Hair, Beauty of Hope Toddler Queen
  • M'Kynlee Smith: 1st alternate, Prettiest Eyes
  • Declan Nelson: Most Photogenic
  • Aubrey Dingler: 2nd alternate
  • Aubree Adair: Prettiest Dress, Prettiest Smile, 3rd alternate

Tiny Miss: 2-3 years

  • Parker Shields: Most Photogenic, Beauty of Hope Tiny Queen
  • Fynleigh Jordan: 3rd alternate
  • Anslei Morris: Prettiest Dress
  • Madilyn Goble: Prettiest Smile
  • Aubrey Lee: Prettiest Eyes, 1st alternate
  • Isabella Brewer: Prettiest Hair, 2nd alternate

Petite Miss: 4-5 years

  • Vada Mount: Prettiest Dress, 1st alternate
  • Berkely Oliver: Most Photogenic, Beauty of Hope Petite Queen

Little Miss: 6-8 years

Teen Miss: 13-15 years

  • Shelby Felts: Prettiest Eyes, Prettiest Hair, 1st alternate
  • Tristain Roberts: Prettiest Smile, 2nd alternate
  • Tessa Buckelew: Prettiest Dress, Most Photogenic, Beauty of Hope Teen Queen

Miss: 16-18 years

  • Tanner Jennings: Prettiest Eyes, Miss Beauty of Hope Queen
  • Lisette Hernandez: Prettiest Hair, 1st alternate
  • Bailey Shedd: Prettiest Dress, Prettiest Smile, Most Photogenic, 2nd alternate

In the breaks between divisions, the crowns for the People's Choice Award and Miss Congeniality were handed out. People’s Choice Award votes raised $280. The crown went to 16-year-old Tanner Jennings. The crown, which was donated by Alabama Gems, featured a rainbow of gemstones to symbolize each color ribbon of cancer awareness. The decision to give out a Miss Congeniality award was last-minute. It was given to 14-year-old Tristain Roberts for her kindness and good sportsmanship.

Relay For Life of Cullman County will be Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m. at the Cullman County Fairgrounds.
