FAIRVIEW – It was the Kalynn Holcomb show Friday as the Fairview senior went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a single in a 17-4 rout of the Vinemont Lady Eagles on senior night.
Vinemont struck first in the top of the first with two runs on an RBI single by Corrina Saint and an RBI double by Mackenzie Lamb to take a 2-0 lead.
Fairview struck back in the bottom of the first with seven huge runs. Katie Ball got things started with a base on balls. She crossed the plate three pitches later as Daisy Manasco crushed an RBI triple to center. She crossed the plate on a Jordan Moore single up the middle. Moore came home on a three-base throwing error giving Fairview their first lead of the game.
Next up was Holcomb and she blasted the first of her two home runs over the centerfield fence. Ally Hogeland kept the hit parade going with a bloop single over second. Savannah Sivley then slapped a single down the third base line and Isabella McGukin reached on a fielder's choice. Selena Lacy earned an RBI with a ground out and Sivley scored on a wild pitch. The final run of the inning came home to score on an error on the Vinemont third baseman to make the score 7-2 after one.
The Lady Aggies added another run in the bottom of the second when Holcomb popped her second home run of the game. Manasco and Hogeland added RBIs in the third but the big inning came in the fourth where Ball, Moore and McGukin combined for five RBIs. Moore came home on a throwing error on the catcher to put the Lady Aggies on top 17-3.
Vinemont plated a run in the top of the fifth but it was not enough to keep Fairview from winning via the 10 run rule.
Final score 17-4 in favor of Fairview.
