CULLMAN – A very competitive round of prep golf took place Tuesday at Terri Pines Country Club between the Good Hope Raiders and the Cullman Bearcats.
Cole Pearson, coming off winning the Cullman County title last week, kept his game consistent with one-over par 37 for the nine-hole event to lead the Raiders. Good Hope's team score was 175 to Cullman's 176.
Holden Atchison for Cullman stood toe-to-toe with Pearson, coming up a shot behind the Good Hope senior with a two-over par 38. Atchison was playing the no. 3 position on the day for Brandon Dingler's Bearcats.
Josh Cofer came in next with a four-over par while other scores for Good Hope included John King with a 48 and Tyler Wilson with a 50. Wilson, the no. 5 man for Joey House's Raiders, had a lower score than Riley Eisner's 53, to round out the top four best scores and win the match by a stroke.
Cullman got a 44 from Shae Donnelley with Ben Hunter and Shane Cecil each finishing with a 47. Those were the four best for the Bearcats as Joe Wachter wound up with a 48, but didn't count in team play.
In the girls' encounter, Cullman's Brinklee Thornton carded a seven-over par 43 with teammates Bailey Ponder shooting a 46, Jordan Millican a 48 and Jade Bailey a 58.
