HANCEVILLE – Nashville artist Jim Witter will present “I Write the Songs,” a show full of beloved tunes from the iconic Barry Manilow that the Cullman Community Concert Association says “will make you smile and sing-a-long throughout the entire performance” at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre on the campus of Wallace State Community College on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Single tickets will be available at the door for $30 (adults); students are free with a paid adult.
Jim Witter has been performing professionally for the last 30 years. His first break came in his early 20s when Sony Music Canada signed Witter to an artist development deal that eventually lead to a record deal with FRE Records in Toronto. Witter’s self-titled debut album garnered five top 10 radio hits, three hit videos and awards from the Canadian Country Music Association, The Big Country Awards, a SOCAN Songwriting award and others. After his impressive debut, Witter was offered a record deal with Curb Records in Nashville, where he released “Forgiveness,” which was nominated for a Dove Award for “Inspirational Album of the Year”.
Through the years, Witter has received much audience feedback requesting a show of Barry Manilow’s material. After carefully choosing the best from Manilow’s songbook, working on the arrangements and tailoring the visual aspect of the show, Jim is excited to introduce his newest musical tribute “I Write the Songs.”
