CULLMAN – It was chilly Thursday night, but the Cullman Lady Bearcats' bats did not get the memo, scoring 12 runs while bashing four home runs.

Cullman jumped on Albertville early in the first. After two quick outs, Mckensi Burks drew a walk to set up the inning. She quickly swiped second while Hannah Morton climbed into the box. Morton crushed a hanger into left field for a double to score Burks and give Cullman a 1-0 lead, a lead that was never in jeopardy. With Morton standing at second, Tiffani Schwaiger crushed the Lady Aggies' offering, sending the ball to left center and out of the ballpark for a two-run homer. Cullman took 3-0 lead after one.

After holding the Lady Aggies scoreless in the top of the second, the Lady Bearcats went back to work with the sticks. For the second straight inning, Albertville recorded two quick outs before the Cats mounted a rally. Grace Cook singled up the middle to start the second-inning beating.  She stole second on the next pitch to set the stage for Bailey Swann. She singled to right to score Cook. Sierra Easterwood was next and she singled home Swann. Burks stepped into the box next and promptly doubled to right center. Morton cleaned up the bases, singling to center, but she was thrown out to end the inning with Cullman up 7-0.

Albertville scratched across a couple of runs in the top of the third thanks to a pair of errors and a wild pitch, but Cook answered with an RBI single in the bottom of the third.

For the third time in the ballgame, Cullman scored multiple runs with two outs in the inning. With two outs, Morton deposited the pitch from the Albertville hurler to straight away centerfield. Schwaiger came to bat next and she smashed the next Lady Aggie pitch to the same spot as the Morton home run to put the Lady Bearcats on top 10-2.

The game ended in the bottom of the fifth thanks to the fourth Cullman home run, this one off the bat Meredith McPherson, and a game-winning single to right from Swann to end the game, 12-2.
