CULLMAN – Sierra Easterwood was dealing Friday afternoon as she scattered five hits and two runs over seven innings while fanning five Bob Jones Lady Patriots.

Cullman’s bats were live early, as they took their first lead in the bottom of the first inning. After giving up a run on a sac fly in the top of the first, Bailey Swann got the game started for the Lady Cats with a perfectly placed bunt single.  She quickly swiped second to move into scoring position. Two batters later Hannah Morton blasted a two-run shot that cleared the left field fence and hit the roof of the building behind it to give the Lady Cats the 2-1 lead.

Bob Jones pulled even in the top of the fourth on a Cullman throwing error that allowed Nichole Buccieri to score for the second time in the game. Cullman took back the lead for good in the fifth. After a quick out in the inning, McKenzie Burks got the inning started with an infield single and found herself on second via a steal. Morton followed with an infield single of her own. The next Cullman batter in the lineup was Tiffani Schwaiger and she promptly delivered a two-run single to centerfield that scored Burks and Morton to put the Lady Cats on top 4-2.

Easterwood retired the last three Bob Jones batters around a walk to give the Lady Cats the victory. Cullman is in action next Monday in the Gulf Coast Classic.
