GOOD HOPE – Cullman County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Sgt. Daniel Cummings was treated and released from Cullman Regional today, following a scary incident in which he was hit and dragged by a vehicle, according to Sheriff Matt Gentry.
"Sgt. Cummings was responding to a call," said Gentry. "After he pulled the suspects over and made contact, the suspects drove off, hitting Sgt. Cummings and dragging him underneath the vehicle."
The incident began on Stewart Road in Good Hope and moved toward the city of Cullman near the National Guard armory when the suspects fled.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), CCSO deputies and Cullman City Police officers gave chase, and the suspects were apprehended a short time later.
Gentry says Cummings had minor injuries, including bruises and scrapes.
"I'd like to commend Sgt. Cummings for the job he did," said Gentry. "I'd also like to commend the state officers, deputies and city police. They responded very quickly."
Two people were apprehended at the scene, according to Gentry. Their identities are not being released at this time.
