CULLMAN – After a three-year absence from the calendar, Childhaven will be once again be hosting its annual yard sale. The event, which will be on March 3 and 4, from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., will feature items that have been donated to the children’s home, but are not currently filling a need.
“This is certainly one of our smallest fundraisers,” said Campus Minister Brian Stroud. “But this is a good way for us to clear out the things we do not need, and hopefully members of the Cullman community can use.”
The biggest annual fundraiser, according to Stroud, comes around Thanksgiving. Childhaven is able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually through that effort.
According to Dr. Jim Wright, executive director at Childhaven, the funds raised from the yard sale will go to help the kids with spring break activities.
Stroud mentioned that there are still ways people can help the children’s home.
“Donations are always accepted and those can be dropped off at the front office at any time,” Stroud explained. “We are always in need of food items, and cleaning supplies. Also, our students are in need of sponsors for tutoring. Many of these kids are not from the Cullman area, so adjusting to the Cullman school system is very difficult.”
There will be hot dogs and drinks for sale during the yard sale for those in attendance to purchase.
“We are very appreciative to the Cullman community for the way it has embraced Odd Fellows-Childhaven for over 100 years, and are thankful for the continued support,” Wright said.
Childhaven is located at 1816 Childhaven Road NE, Cullman, AL 35055.
