This week in Cullman history (Jan. 31- Feb. 6)
On Feb. 2-3, 1996, Cullman County experienced a large ice storm. Rain began falling on the night of Feb. 2, freezing almost immediately, and was followed by more frozen rain on Feb. 3. Many people lost electricity, water, phone service and heat- some for several days- and numerous trees and power lines collapsed.
