Tonight was Senior Night in Holly Pond.
HOLLY POND – It was total domination by the Holly Pond Broncos and Lady Broncos Monday night as they welcomed the New Hope Indians to Felton Easterwood Gymnasium on the campus of Holly Pond High School.
Moments after being recognized for scoring his 1,000th point earlier in the season, Drew Jones got the night off to a good start for the Broncos, scoring an easy basket off of the 27th consecutive won tip-off of the year. Omarious “Omar” Jolly answered right back for the Indians to tie the game. Holly Pond scored the next seven when Jones hit a jumper and a three, sandwiched around catalyst Dawson Foust’s pair of free throws. Each team was on fire shooting and they spent the rest of the quarter trading points, but the early 7-0 run gave Holly Pond the advantage 32-21 after one.
New Hope came out with guns blazing in the second, getting as close as five, but an alley-oop dunk from Jones to Matt Cahoon electrified the crowd as well as the Broncos. After the dunk, Holly Pond scored the last six points of the half to keep a double-digit lead, 52-40, heading to the half.
It was all Holly Pond in the third. Bailey Smith, accompanied by Jones, quickly pushed the Bronco lead to 17. They extended the run to 17-3 before an Indian timeout. Out of the break the Broncos kept the pressure on, burying shot after shot and pushing their advantage to 35, ensuring a hot clock in the fourth.
Staring the quarter with 86 points and with the crowd behind them, the Broncos hit the 100 mark with less than a minute left when Zach Shaw launched a three deep in the right corner that bounced straight up then straight in to send the Holly Pond crowd into a frenzy.
Final score: Holly Pond 100, New Hope 66.

Just like her male counterpart, Drew Jones, Ruth Horton was honored before the girls’ game for scoring her 1,000th point, and just like Jones (who also wears no. 20), Horton scored the first points of the game for the Lady Broncos on their way to a drumming of New Hope.
After a cold first quarter, the Lady Broncos took the game over in the second, dropping in 27. Horton led the charge with 10. Kolby Holcombe and Haley Higginbotham each added six in the quarter to help Holly Pond to a 32-14 halftime advantage.
The third was all Lady Broncos as they added 22 more points to their total while holding New Hope to just two to take a 38-point lead to the fourth. Holly Pond kept their foot to the gas in the fourth, taking the lopsided contest 66-26.
