Mrs. James Cole, J.C. Dye and Harvin McKinney were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Brown Keller.

Ronnie and Eddie Drake, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Olen Drake spent last week with the Marvin Barrontons.

Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Johnson, of Huntsville, visited relatives here last week.

Mr. and Mrs. James Cole and  Mrs. Lillie South visited the Ova Odens, near Addison, on Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Barronton and Betty visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barronton, at Harpersville, last Saturday.

Those visiting Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Harbison and Grandma Parker, during the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Parker and Larry, of Gadsden, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Clay, of North Carolina, Reverend and Mrs. Bill Hart and Mrs. Loye Cook and children, of Tennessee.

Isaac Drake Passes

Isaac Drake, age 87, passed away on Friday, December 28th, at the residence of Homer Blandenship, of Route Two, Vinemont.

Funeral services were conducted at Flint Creek Church on Saturday, December  29th, with Robert Presnell officiating and Moss Service in charge of interment.

Survivors are four nephews and two nieces.

Pallbearers were: Martin, Boyd, Atla, Talmadge, Verlon and Claude Drake.

Welcome News

Reverend E.A. Carver filled his regular appointment here Sunday. It was the first time since he had his operation.

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Bailey and Darrell, Mr. and Mrs. Britten Bailey and Donnie Defra and Mrs. Bessie Bailey and Felston Bailey, were the Sunday guests of  Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Bailey, in Childersburg. Henry Miller has had  pneumonia  this past week.

Mrs. Audy Maddox and Roger Dale Rigsby have been on the sick list.

Mrs. Tinnie Ray is ill.

Gold Ridge News

Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Johns and Larry were Sunday night guests of Mrs. Colon Johns, Dock and Olean.

Mrs. Martha Thompson visited her sister, Mrs. Abbie Johns, last week.

Alvin Byrd was the Sunday dinner  guest of Dock Johns.

Little Byron Whitten is improving, after being sick with a throat ailment last week. Funeral services for George Cleveland Childers, age 65, Eva Route One, were held  on  Monday  at  2:00  p.m.  at Union Hill Church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery, directed by Moss Service Funeral Home.

Mr. Childers died on Saturday at 10 a.m., at Cullman Hospital.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. George Childers; two sons, Cleveland and G.C., Junior; eight daughters, Mrs. Evilee Fortenberry, Mrs. Averine Holmes, Mrs. Demaris Fortenberry, Mrs. Mildred white, Mrs. Annie Ruth Boyd, Mrs.  Barbara Jane Frost, Miss Jeannie Lou Childers, Miss Gail Childers; one brother; two sisters and twelve grandchildren.

Doctor L.H. Clemmons, of Cullman, was last week appointed to the State Planning and Industrial Development Board to succeed William J. Nesmith, who resigned. The appointment was made by Governor James E. Folsom.

Walter News

Mrs. H.H. Segler and Mrs. W.R. Gable, of Cullman, spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sutton and Rex.

Reverend A.F. Holden visited Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gable, on Sunday afternoon. Private Uless Stewart, who was in Texas, spent a few days with his parents, Mr.  and  Mrs.  Cliff  Stewart.  He  left on Sunday for Washington.

Earnestine Gable, of Siluria, spent the holidays here with his family.

Jim Burrow is very sick.

Mr. and Mrs. Carness Bradford and Bennie Bradford, of Michigan, spent the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bradford. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bolding and children,  of  Moulton,  spent  Wednesday

with Mr. and Mrs. Dillard Holcomb. Grandma  Nunnelley  was  the  guest of

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cobbs and children, during the holidays.

Mr. and Mrs. Blash Ozbolt had all their children home for the recent holidays.

Billy Lyne Thompson, of Birmingham, spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Shorty Ryan and children.

Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Cobb’s children  were home during the recent holidays.

Willis Hill, of Akron, Ohio, M.D. Hill, of Holly Pond and Grady Duskin, of Decatur, visited the Will Smiths, Winona and Larry during the holidays.

Mr. and Mrs. John Hollaway and Ronnie and Marvin Smith, of Cullman, were holiday guests of the Will Smiths.

Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Holcomb and Mary Ellen, Winona and Larry Hill  spent  Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Morgan and children.

Mr. and Mrs. Theron Woody and Mrs. Hazel Smith and Doan, of Cullman, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Graham.
