The Hankey family and Inflatable Frenzy staff
VINEMONT – Brad Hankey is a self-described "big kid at heart." He has his own collection of arcade games and inflatables, and even a two-story indoor climbing wall. But if you go visit him, he's willing to share.
Brad and Sherri Hankey recently opened Inflatable Frenzy, an indoor playground and arcade at 18990 Highway 31 N in Vinemont. On Wednesday, Jan. 18 the Hankeys were joined by South Vinemont Mayor Reggie Dodson and members of the South Vinemont Town Council, the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and friends for the official ribbon cutting.
According to Brad Hankey, "It's something we always wanted to do. We talked about it, and just kind of felt led to launch it at this time. The kids really enjoy it. When they walk through the front door, they look up and they just light up; and that makes me feel good."
Sherri Hankey added, "We just love watching them have a good time."
It's no small task to find a two-story tall room to house slides and a climbing wall, and that's what led the Hankeys to this spot in Vinemont.
"It's difficult," Brad Hankey shared, "to find a building this tall to accommodate this stuff. This came available, so we just chose this place."
Inflatable Frenzy is already a successful start-up. The facility opened in November, and the Hankeys have seen a good bit of business, especially on weekends.
Sherri Hankey said, "For parties, we're averaging at least 15 kids per party. On Saturdays, we average three to four parties, and that doesn't include our open play. After parties are over, we have open play; and we've seen as many as 20 come in to jump."
In addition to the already-listed amenities, the facility also has two party rooms, a concession stand and a parents' lounging area with televisions, making it a full-service hangout.
And Inflatable Frenzy isn't just a place you come to. It can also come to you. The Hankeys rent inflatables, and will handle delivery, setup, takedown and return, so party hosts can focus on their celebrations. They deliver within a 30-mile radius, and can even go a little further for an additional charge.
Inflatables always appeal to children, but Inflatable Frenzy caters to teens and even adults as well. Even grownups can take their turns on the inflatables, play the arcade games and climb the wall.
Sherri Hankey concluded, "The main thing we want people to know is that it's fun for the entire family. There's things for teenagers to do, and there's things for adults to do. Everybody can have fun."
