GOOD HOPE – Good Hope and West Point fans alike were treated to a pair of thrilling games Monday night as the Raiders and the Warriors took to the hardwood to do battle in an in-county match-up.

Good Hope started strong with five straight points from Kallen Sharpton that forced an early timeout from the Warriors. Out of the break, Sharpton, along with Kenneth Lyle, scored four points sandwiched around a Warrior basket, prompting another West Point timeout. The break in the action seemed to do the Warriors some good as they finished the quarter on a 10-4 run to close the gap to just a single point after one quarter of play. The second quarter was full of run and gun offense with both teams flying up and down the floor, matching each other shot for shot. West Point took the lead late in the quarter to take a 25-24 advantage to the half.

Sharpton tied the game for Good Hope on a free throw to open the second half, but West Point took it right back on a three from Kolton Sapp to give the Warriors a 28-25 advantage and a lead that they held on to for the rest of the game. Going into the fourth up five, West Point quickly ballooned the lead to eight with points from Austin Dubberly and Rylan Jones. Good Hope answered with three from Sharpton to keep things close, but they never got closer than six, as West Point went on to take the game by a final score of 56-41.

Good Hope 51, West Point 45 (Girls)

It was nip and tuck with points going back and forth in the first half of the girls' game with Good Hope carrying a narrow 21-20 to the halftime break. Good Hope extended the lead to three to start the third on a basket by Leyton Seal. Miriam Oldacre, a transfer from Good Hope to West Point, answered with a bucket of her own. West Point rattled off eight straight points to take a 30-23 lead midway through the quarter but Good Hope weathered the storm and responded with 11-0 run to end the quarter up 35-33.

West Point took the lead to open the fourth on a four-point play from Micah Oldacre, who like her sister is a transfer from Good Hope. The action see-sawed back and forth until late in the quarter when the Lady Raiders were near perfect from the line to put the game out of reach and take the contest 51-45.
