CULLMAN – Cullman High School’s varsity baseball team will compete in the USA Baseball National High School Invitational in March, and they’re the only team from the state to be invited.

The 16-team event will be held March 29 through April 1 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.

"As the national governing body for baseball in the United States, we are proud to put the spotlight on high school baseball with the 2017 National Invitational," USA Baseball Executive Director/CEO Paul Seiler said. "We are excited to welcome 16 of the top high school programs for what is truly a one of a kind competitive and developmental experience for these players and programs."

Cullman High brings a winning formula as a state champion in Class 6A of the Alabama High School Athletic Association in 2015 and a runner-up in 2016.

With plenty of talent returning to the diamond in 2017, high expectations await the ball club. Now the Bearcats will line up against great competition from across the U.S.

The field consists of the following teams:

  1. American Heritage of Plantation, FL
  2. Archbishop McCarthy of Southwest Ranches, FL
  3. Arlington High of Arlington, TX
  4. Brother Rice of Chicago, IL
  5. Canterbury School of Ft. Meyers, FL
  6. Cullman High School of Cullman, AL
  7. Dana Hills High School of Dana Point, CA
