Collision at Hwys. 278 and 31 downtown results in motorcyclist being airlifted to Huntsville

CULLMAN –  A two-vehicle traffic incident tonight in downtown Cullman resulted in injuries, according to the Cullman City Police Department (CPD). The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and U.S. Highway 278 at approximately 5:55 p.m.

Said CPD Lt. Jeff Warnke, "A collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 31 and Highway 278 involving a motorcycle and a Chevy HHR. The motorcycle was operated by Donny Robertson of Cullman and the SUV was operated by Alexandria Busby of Cullman."

According to Warnke, the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Highway 31 and the SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 31. The collision happened as the SUV allegedly attempted to turn left onto Highway 278.

Robertson, 68, was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital with severe injuries to one of his legs, said Warnke.
