Here's what's coming up for this month:
Saturday, Jan. 7, 9-10:30 a.m. (Farm Kids Club) Where Do All The Animals Go?
We will be learning about how local wildlife adapts to winter. From changing coats to storing extra food, we’ll explore how animals such as squirrels, raccoons and groundhogs adjust to the cold winter months. For ages 5 and older with an adult.
Friday, Jan. 13, 10 a.m. (Little Farmers) Winter Animals
Join us to answer questions about what happens to animals in winter. Where do they go? How do they survive the long, cold winter? Interactive program with crafts, games and songs. For preschoolers with an adult.
Tuesday, Jan. 17, 6 p.m. (Living Landscapes) The Art of Terrariums
Let us help you master the art behind the creation of a terrarium. This may be the perfect compromise between master gardening and the black thumbed elite; all are welcome. $25 will cover all supplies for an open desert terrarium and a closed tropical terrarium. Limited registration. Cost is $25.
Tuesday, Jan. 24, 6 p.m. (Heritage Skills) Hand Tool Maintenance and Care
Let’s start the year off learning how to maintain and care for our hand tools. Back in the day, people took care of their tools and, in return, they lasted a lifetime. We’ll be showing you how to properly care for your tools, from sharpening to oiling the wood handles. Cost: $5 a person, $10 a file.
Thursday, Jan. 26, 9-11 a.m. (Heritage Homeschool) Gourds
The gourd is strong, lightweight and versatile. We’ll learn about its uses from past to present. Let’s have some fun exploring what the Cucurbitaceae family has to offer as we make some gourd crafts. For homeschoolers kindergarten and older with an adult.
