CULLMAN COUNTY – Local prep basketball games scheduled for Friday are questionable at the moment, as the threat of a wintry mix of snow hangs over the area.

In the latest report from WBRC FOX 6 Meteorologist Jill Gilardi, current data shows the possibility for snow on Friday and into Saturday.

With the possibility, two games have already been moved up a night to beat the weather. The Albertville at Cullman games will be Thursday at 6 p.m. with the girls followed by the varsity. These are 6A, Area 14 games.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) asks teams to attempt to reschedule games if inclement weather is possible. Area games have to be played, with the entire area regular season schedule to be completed by late January.

Eight games were originally scheduled for Friday with five of them area assignments.

They are Winston County at Cold Springs in 2A, Area 13, Susan Moore at Holly Pond in 3A, Area 11, Carbon Hill at Hanceville in 3A, Area 12, West Point at Fairview in 5A, Area 12, plus the Cullman-Albertville games.

Cold Springs and Holly Pond have games on Thursday that were already set. Cold Springs will host Hanceville with Holly Pond to play at Good Hope.

Rescheduling decisions will be made by the schools.

Non-area games for Friday include Meek at Good Hope, Vinemont at West End and St. Bernard at Whitesburg Christian.

Vinemont and Fairview are scheduled to play a make-up game on Saturday at Fairview that was postponed in November due to a severe weather threat.

Stay tuned to the Tribune for the latest on when games will be played and rescheduled.
