Updated 5:44 p.m. According to Cullman County Fire and EMS Dispatch, there are eight departments still on the scene battling the fire; however, "It is contained at this time."
High winds are keeping the fire active, but firefighters are hopeful that the impending rains will aid in their efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Updated 11 a.m. Logan, Good Hope and Trimble VFDs have now been dispatched to help.
BREMEN – A large brush fire in the Bremen community has at least six area fire departments fighting to contain the blaze and protect area homes, barns and other structures. The fire is in the vicinity of County Roads 127 and 141.
Personnel from the Bremen,Cold Springs, Arkadelphia, Dodge City, Crane Hill and Loretto volunteer fire departments (VFDs) are on the scene, and the Alabama Forestry Commission is also assisting.
According to dispatch, the fire is currently 30 feet from a home in the area.
