Individual qualifiers Colby Hutson, Callie Hollingsworth, Reese McNeel and Cabri Adams
HUNTSVILLE – Cullman's swim and diving team had a successful weekend in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) North Sectional Meet.
Eighth-grader Reese McNeel set the tone with a runner-up berth in the 1 meter diving competition. McNeel's score was 157.30, second to Julia Keller of Huntsville with a 187.65.
The Lady Bearcats 200-meter relay team finished seventh at 2:02.60. The team consists of Cabri Adams, Callie Hollingsworth, Anna Evans and McNeel. They lowered their time in the finals after a 2:03.02 in the prelims.
Adams was 10th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.92 in the finals. She qualified in the prelims at 2:11.92 and lowered her time by two seconds in the final round.
McNeel returned to the pool and got a 10th-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:04.89, following a 1:04.61 in the qualifying round.
The Bearcats' Colby Hutson stood strong in the 100-yard butterfly with a fourth-place time of 56:59. Hutson was fourth fastest in his prelim at 56:88.
Adams captured 10th in the finals of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.65. She reached the finals by getting a time of 1:04.59 in the qualifying heat.
Hollingsworth took home 14th place in the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:18.92.
Hutson punched out a berth to state in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing fifth in the finals at 1:07.62, improving his time from 1:08.76 in the prelims.
