AUBURN – From the opening drive to the final play, it was all Auburn as they played Alabama A&M Saturday night in the last home game for the Tigers this season, shutting out A&M 55-0.

It didn’t take long for senior Jeremy Johnson to show what he was made of when he got the call to start in place of the injured Shaun White. On his first play from scrimmage, Johnson hit Darius Slayton in the flat for an 18-yard pickup. Kerryon Johnson started in place of the injured Kamryn Pettway and made the most of the opportunity. On his first carry, he busted through the line for 7 yards. Two plays later he broke a big 22-yard rush off right tackle to take the ball down to the Bulldog 19. On third-and-8, Johnson connected with Slayton for the second time on the drive, this one to the tune of 10 yards. J. Johnson finished the drive with a 7-yard quarterback draw for the touchdown. Daniel Carlson hit the PAT to put Auburn on top 7-0.

Alabama A&M started their first drive from their own 30 but it quickly came to an end. On third-and-9, De’Agelo Balla’s pass was batted up in the air and came to rest in big hands on Montravious Adams. Three plays later Auburn was in the end zone again, this time with J. Johnson doing it with his arm. On third-and-9 from the A&M 14, J. Johnson found Kyle Davis for a 14-yard touchdown strike. Carlson was true with his kick and Auburn took a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes of play.

Both teams went back and forth, trading punts for the majority of the second quarter. Auburn got on the board again late in the second when they put together an impressive eight-play, 79-yard drive that ended with a 2-yard touchdown rush by K. Johnson. Carlos got the PAT to put Auburn on top 21-0. Carlos added a 41-yard field goal with 1:30 left in the half but missed a 54-yarder to end the half with the Tigers on top 24-0.

The halftime break did little to quell the momentum of the Auburn Tigers as they continued to pour on the offense. Following an Alabama A&M three-and-out, Auburn went right back to work on their own 49. Kam Martin did the heavy lifting on the drive as he carried the ball eight times for 42 yards, down to the Bulldogs’ 1-yard line. From there, J. Johnson called his own number and carried the ball in for the touchdown. The PAT was true and Auburn went up 31-0.

The Bulldogs ran just four plays on their next drive as Stephen Roberts stepped in front of a Balla pass for the interception. Just two plays later the Tigers capitalized on the turnover when Martin broke loose and scampered up the middle for 18 yards and the score. Carlson’s kick was good to put Auburn up 38-0, but they were not done. Following another Bulldog punt, Auburn scored again. Starting from their own 41, Martin quickly carried the ball into A&M territory with a 36-yard rush. He followed that with a 20-yarder on the very next carry. Two plays later he was rewarded for his hard work with a 2-yard touchdown. Carlson tacked on the PAT and Auburn headed to the fourth up 48-0.

Auburn tacked on a final touchdown in the fourth, a 17-yard run by Martin, to take the game 55-0 as they get ready to head into next week to face the no.1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.
