DANVILLE – Fairview bounced back from their first loss of the season Friday night, taking care of Decatur 54-39 Saturday in the ninth annual Danville Lady Hawks Thanksgiving Classic.

The Lady Aggies and Lady Red Raiders were hard at it as the score showed during the first three quarters.

Fairview led 16-14 after the opening frame. Decatur came back and went on a 10-0 run to grab a 27-22 advantage late in the second.

But a basket by Abby Schnittker and a trey from Jada Golden got the score even at 27-27 when the half ended.

Fairview was back on top with Decatur coming back with a running jumper to carry a 37-36 lead into the final period of play.

The fourth was controlled by Mary Hartline's Lady Aggies. Balanced scoring and an aggressive defense holding Decatur to a field goal enabled Fairview to break the game open and go to 5-1 on the season.

Abby Taylor tossed in 16 for the Lady Aggies with Taylor Yeager scoring 15, Schnittker had 11, Golden nine and Daiyla Dean three.

Leading Decatur was Tammara King with 14 and Alexis Turner with eight points.

Fairview is now in the quarterfinal round at Wayne Bowling Gym with a game Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. vs. West Morgan.

Priceville 74, Good Hope 42:

For the first half, Good Hope overcame a 12-0 deficit to begin the game and managed to narrow the margin to 21-17 early in the second period.

But the Lady Raiders were behind 34-29 at the half with the third period starting the wrong way as Amanda Swann's squad was hit with a technical foul for not having a player listed on the official scorebook.

That pumped Priceville to score nine points early in the frame and finish with a 27-10 advantage to take a 61-39 lead to the final period.

Priceville held the Lady Raiders to one basket in the last 8:00 and continued to pour it on, scoring 13 in the fourth and producing 40 second half points, holding Good Hope to only 13.

Kathleen Wheeler was on fire for 3-1 Priceville, scoring 28 points on 10 field goals. Ashlee Quinn produced 11 for the Lady Bulldogs.

Kate Kent, Kyler Hembree and Kelly Pickett paced the Lady Raiders with 10 apiece, Sadie Abbott scored seven, Alex Stansell four and Savanna Derrick one.

Good Hope is into the consolation bracket and will play at Falkville's Tom Drake Gymnasium Tuesday vs. an opponent to be named later. Game time will be at 6:40 p.m.

West Morgan 55, Lawrence County 50:

The first game of the day was tight with West Morgan leading Lawrence County 29-25 at the break and hanging on as time expired to win it by the final of 55-50.

Brie Evans' 14 points and Lyndsey Goodwin's 12 carried West Morgan to the win column and a chance to get Fairview in the quarterfinal round.

Moesha McDaniel led the Lawrence County scoring with 15 points.
