David Lee Moore
HANCEVILLE – David Lee Moore of Hanceville and Tina Thompson of Cullman were arrested this week in Hanceville, facing charges for drugs, a stolen vehicle and other offenses. Moore is a registered sex offender who was convicted on two counts of sodomy with a child in Blount County in 1996. According to Hanceville Police Chief Bob Long, who was formerly a Blount County law enforcement officer, the Moore has a long history of criminal convictions.
On Wednesday Hanceville Police spotted a gold and black Nissan Altima that matched the description of a car noted in a River Bend area complaint about the use of a switched license plate. A patrol officer followed the car on Highway 91 until it pulled into a mobile home community. There the officer noticed activity between the driver and front seat passenger, while another passenger sat in the back. The back-seat passenger resides at the address where the vehicle stopped, and is not considered to be involved in criminal activity.
The driver, Moore, and front-seat passenger, Thompson, were questioned at the scene. Thompson admitted that she was a drug user, and that Moore had given her something before they got out of the car. That turned out to be a package containing drug paraphernalia and 11.6 grams of ICE, a purer form of crystal methamphetamine. The automobile they were driving was found to have been stolen in Guntersville, and the license plate was also stolen from a separate vehicle.
Thompson has been charged with possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Moore received the same charges, along with receiving stolen property. Moore was already being sought on a recent failure to appear charge.
