SOUTH VINEMONT – The Town of South Vinemont held an organizational meeting and swearing-in ceremony on Monday evening for its new mayor and council members for 2016-2020. Cullman County Probate Judge Tammy Brown administered the oaths of office.

The Vinemont Town Council includes:

Place 1:  Joann Oakley

Place 2: Sonya Mabry

Place 3: J.D. Marcum

Place 4: Toni Helms

Place 5: Shirley Arnett

Vinemont’s new mayor is former Councilman Radginal Dodson. Former Mayor J.D. Marcum took Dodson’s seat on the council.

Oakley was appointed mayor pro tempore, or vice-mayor, for the town and will take the role of mayor in the event that Dodson is absent from council meetings.

The council also appointed Vinemont’s town clerk, Amy Johnson, and town attorney, Roy Williams, Jr.

In other business, Top Line Trailers of Addison requested a zoning change of the land behind what was formerly a drive-in theater. The company says it will bring approximately 30 jobs to the town through manufacturing and retail at the Vinemont location.

Top Line Trailers will be relocating to South Vinemont and plans to be operational by Dec. 1.
