Hanceville woman killed in weekend crash on I-65

WARRIOR – A 28-year-old Hanceville woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 on Saturday.

Alicia Jean Harris was a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that overturned on the interstate, 2 miles north of Warrior. According to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Harris, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to UAB Hospital, where she died of her injuries.

The driver of the Tahoe, Joshua Robert Mentzer, 20, of Hanceville was injured and transported to UAB Hospital.

The crash happened at approximately 1:37 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Troopers continue to investigate the incident. Nothing further is available at this time.
