HANCEVILLE – Wallace State Community College again earned a place on the list of Community College Week’s Top 50 Associate Degrees: Health Professions and Related Programs. Community College Week is a bi-weekly publication of news, trends and issues regarding two-year colleges.
The college placed 45th overall on the list that includes both four-year and two-year institutions across the United States and it’s the only institute of higher learning in the state to earn a place on the list. It ranked 29th among the two-year colleges on the list. With 399 healthcare graduates for the reporting year, Wallace State showed a 10 percent increase.
Wallace State’s health programs include: Child Development; Dental Assisting; Dental Hygiene; Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology); Diagnostic Medical Sonography; Emergency Medical Services; Health Information Technology and Medical Coding; Human Services; Medical Assistant; Medical Laboratory Technician; Nursing; Occupational Therapy Assistant; Patient Care Specialist; Pharmacy Technology; Physical Therapist Assistant; Polysomnography (Sleep Lab); Respiratory Therapy; and Therapeutic Massage.
The Wallace State health programs are dedicated to providing training of unsurpassed quality to produce highly-trained and qualified health care professionals. Wallace State’s nursing program recently earned the designation as a Center of Excellence by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
As a mark of the excellent educational preparation students receive at Wallace State, all of the health programs have high pass rates for the required licensing exams their students must take to practice in their chosen field.
Convenience is also taken into account as many health programs offer the option of online and/or hybrid courses that allow students to do much of their course work online and only travel to campus for labs or to clinical sites for practical training. Part-time options are also available to cater to students’ schedules.
