EVA – Are you a thrill seeker; do you long for a terror of the night? Then the Haunted Maze in Eva, run by the Wilson family, will be your hair-raising, spine-chilling nerve-racking delight. For $5 admission, one may experience a haunted maze through a seemingly innocent rambler home, but beware—things aren’t always what they seem.
Donny Wilson, who has been operating the Haunted Maze at his residence for eight years, says “anyone from 7 to 70,” should visit the maze run by his family. He is just one of 20 family members who come to the residence to put on the annual fright of the night.
“It’s our family reunion,” one family member joked as they prepared for another group to put their courage, and bladders, to the test- a test which one patron unfortunately failed prior to Saturday evening.
Chris Krich, 21, of Cullman, went through the maze on Saturday. “It was definitely worth $5,” he said. “It was a nice little mom and pop deal. I liked it; I liked it a lot.” Not even he was immune to the terrors set up by the Wilson family. “The kids got me,” said Krich.
Caine Robinson, 20, of Fairview, attended the maze alongside Krich, and specifically enjoyed the lighting of the maze. He says he will absolutely be back next year. Echoing Krich, Robinson says he felt the horror of the night. “I got scared a good bit. They got kids that jump out at you.”
The Wilson family will be operating their Haunted Maze every Friday and Saturday in October from 7-11 p.m. at 272 Chambers Road in Eva.
