CULLMAN – A single-car incident Friday afternoon sent one man to the hospital.
James Scott, 26, of Hanceville, was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 31 South in front of the old Nicholson File plant when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a metal utility pole.
"According to witnesses at the scene, Scott allegedly told them he had dropped something and was reaching down to pick it up when the incident occurred," said Cullman City Police Officer Jeff Mize.
Scott, the vehicle's only occupant, was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
The incident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m.
