NORTH COURTLAND – The undefeated Addison Bulldogs took on the R.A. Hubbard Chiefs Friday night in an important road game in Courtland looking to solidify their place as the No.1 seed in their region.

The night started off on a bad note for the Bulldogs as R.A. Hubbard’s electric running back Gabe Garth caught a swing pass and wove his way through the Addison defense for a 73-yard touchdown on just the second play off the game. The Bulldogs’ defense had trouble containing the shifty senior running back all night as he racked up 253 yards of total offense and all three of the Chiefs’ touchdowns.

Luckily for the Bulldogs, their offense proved to be too much for the undermanned Chiefs while their defense seemed to settle in and play fundamental football for the rest of the night as they extended their winning streak to 8-0, ultimately winning the game 37-20.

Addison dual-threat quarterback Noah Rice had a solid night leading the offense passing for 63 yards and one touchdown and running for 59 yards along with another score. Sophomore running back Zayne Guthrie was the X-factor for the Bulldogs as he came off the bench rushing for 158 yards and three touchdowns, while their other running back Chandler Cookenmaster added 77 yards on 11 carries. The Bulldogs only threw six times for 83 yards on the night as their three-headed rushing attack was hardly slowed down by the Chiefs’ defense.

R.A. Hubbard put up a good fight in the first half going into the locker room only down 10 points. However, the Chiefs weren’t able to sustain any momentum in the second half as their 11 starting players hardly came off the field all game. Addison’s superior depth was able to take over in the third quarter, propelling them to victory.

The Bulldogs head into the last week of the regular season still unbeaten. They will be traveling to Winston County next week looking to remain that way. R.A. Hubbard falls to 0-5 in region play and 2-6 overall. They will be traveling to Southeastern next week in desperate need of a win.
