BUG TUSSLE – Agents with the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) today arrested John Dennis Smith, 39, of Cullman for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude and prohibition of window tint.
CNET agents and Cullman Police narcotics officers were executing a search warrant at a residence on U.S Highway 91 in the Bug Tussle community when Smith turned into the driveway of the residence and abruptly turned around to avoid law enforcement. CNET agents pursued Smith until he stopped at another residence a few miles south on U.S Highway 91.
Cullman County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputy, Kit, alerted on the suspect’s vehicle at that time and agents discovered 9 grams of ICE, a purer form of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe.
“Anytime you get that amount of meth off the streets before it could be sold is a good day. I think this arrest also shows the value of our K-9 deputies and what a great resource they are as well,” said Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would also like to commend the fine job CNET, our deputies and CPD narcotic officers did in this case.”
Smith is currently being held at the Cullman County Detention Center on a $9,300 bond.
