Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization for women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding. The organization seeks to give recognition to outstanding women educators, build a fellowship among women in the field of education, promote high standards of education, promote educational and charitable projects and activities, sponsor scholarships, further and maintain worthy standards in education, cooperate with community programs relating to education and charities, and contribute to world understanding, goodwill, and peace. Membership is honorary and based on peer recognition. With more than 1,300 chapters throughout the world, Alpha Delta Kappa members focus on the good of schools, communities, the teaching profession and the world.
“Children are our future, and I greatly admire and respect those who have devoted their lives to teaching our young people and being good examples for them to follow,” said Townson.
Women in education constitute a great portion of the nation’s working force. These women educators strive to serve their communities and nation in educational, civic, cultural and charitable programs with the goal of harmony, happiness and peace among all people.
“We are grateful to our Alpha Delta Kappa members for all they do to improve education in our community,” added Townson. “The long success of our school system in Cullman is due in large part to the dedication, commitment and love our teachers and local Alpha Delta Kappa have for education.”
During Alpha Delta Kappa month, citizens are urged to thank a teacher or to express their appreciation to an Alpha Delta Kappa member. To learn more about the Alpha Delta Kappa organization, visit their website at www.alphadeltakappa.org.
