WEST POINT – The Fairview Aggies (2-3) shut out the Priceville Bulldogs tonight 49-0 as the Aggies hosted at their substitute home field at West Point Stadium.
The Aggies were off to a very quick start at kickoff as the kick sailed past the Bulldogs’ heads but didn't quite get in the end zone, setting up a Bulldogs’ first-and-10 at their own 5-yard line. No luck for Priceville as they attempted to rush against a great defensive line of Aggies and had to ultimately punt.
The Bulldogs never could get within 10 yards of the Aggies’ end zone all night.
Fairview answered with a score in just over two minutes of possession as Aggies running back Logan Brooks rushed in for his first touchdown on the night, the first of four total touchdowns for the senior to be exact.
“Our run game was good. Our guys did a great job up front,” Coach George Redding said about his offensive line making such great running opportunities for both Brooks and quarterback Ragan Ashley.
“He threw the ball when he needed to throw it and handed it to no. 5 when he needed to hand it off…it was all about efficiency.”
Ashley went 10 for 11 passing with 144 passing yards and added 82 yards rushing with two rushing touchdowns and one touchdown pass to Brooks.
“We needed some big plays and Logan was able to do that,” said Redding.
Brooks, who had 16 carries, ended up with 133 total yards rushing, with a 45-yard reception being one of those touchdowns.
The first half was all Aggies, who gave up only 93 total yards to the Bulldogs.
Fairview didn't let up in the second half either as they only allowed 32 more yards for Priceville. The Aggies went on to score three more times before the end of the game.
Total yards for Fairview: 476; total for Priceville: 125 yards.
It was a fast game and a fast win for Fairview tonight at West Point Stadium. It will be a turn of the tables next week as Fairview will be back at West Point taking on the Warriors, only this time as the visiting team.
