CULLMAN – A shooting on the city's southwest side tonight left one person injured. Cullman Police Department (CPD) investigators are still on the scene of the incident, which happened in a residence on Second Street Southwest between Morgan and Denson Avenues at approximately 6 p.m.

The victim, George Lamar Flanigan, 38, is the brother of Jerome Flanigan, a man the CPD named yesterday as a person of interest in their investigation of the death of a local woman.

George Flanigan was shot once with a pistol and has been transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

On Friday, police discovered the body of Leslie Clements, 33, of Cullman, in an apartment on Fuller Street. The death was classified as suspicious and the body was sent to Huntsville for autopsy. On Friday evening, CPD Capt. Becky Boyd released the names and photos of two persons of interest in the investigation into the death of Clements- Jerome Flanigan and Kayla Thursby. She said the CPD is not calling them suspects.

According to Boyd, "We have been working leads on the case all day. At this point, all we can say is that Jerome Flanigan and Kayla Thursby are still persons of interest."

More information will be released as the investigation continues.
