CULLMAN – Recently, the Cullman County Home Builders Association held its annual Scholarship Fundraiser Sporting Clay Event at Maple Ridge Gun Club. The showing was one of the best they’ve had, according to CCHA president Willy Hendrix.

“I honestly believe this is one of the better turnouts we’ve had and that is something to be thankful for,” Hendrix said. “This morning (Saturday) we had our individual shooter competition. Hayden Smith won the individual competition, and now we are heading down for the team shoot.”

Over 50 shooters took to the multiple skeet ranges scattered throughout Maple Ridge for the individual competition. The numbers for the team shoot stayed in the same count as the individual shoot.

“This is one of our major fundraisers each year,” Hendrix said. “We are just grateful so many people showed up to shoot.”

According to the CCHA website, “The Cullman County Home Builders Association is a group of local business people related to the home building industry who strive to promote and maintain building excellence and professionalism. We are committed to improving the profitability of our members through education, networking and community service.”

Hendrix echoed those same words as he spoke to the shooters Saturday morning.

“A lot of people either don’t know we are around or just don’t know what we do. We are here to help the community, businesses and our educational system grow,” he said.
