GOOD HOPE – Good Hope Middle School has been flat out dominant during the past 26 regular season games. Make it 27 games after blowing out Fairview 48-20 last night to start out 2-0 under new coach Tim Hudson. Fairview was supposed to get the ball first to start out the game, but Good Hope had something to say about that as they recovered the opening kickoff at the 37-yard line and from there, Colton Bagwell found the end zone on the first play to give Good Hope a 6-0 lead. The 2-point conversion failed. The Aggies answered on their first offensive drive with a 10-play, 50-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard run to put Fairview up 7-6.

For the rest of the first half, it was all Good Hope. On their next series, Eli Pugh, Bagwell and Ethan Anderson gave the Aggies fits, which ended with Anderson scoring from 2 yards out to give the Raiders a 12-6 lead after the failed 2-point conversion. The defense forced an Aggie turnover on the next series and behind Anderson and Bagwell, Good Hope moved the ball down the field and finished the drive with a 4-yard touchdown run by Bagwell to put Good Hope up 18-6. After recovering yet another kickoff, two big runs had Good Hope set at the 2-yard line and from there, it was an easy walk into the end zone for Bagwell to help increase the Raider lead to 26-6, which would be the score at the half.

In the third quarter, Pugh, Bagwell and Anderson continued to dominate as they picked up from where they left off in the first half and completed a 74-yard drive in 4:13 and finished it off with another 2-yard run by Bagwell and the rout was on in Good Hope as the lead widened to 34-6 with 3:47 remaining in the quarter. Fairview answered right back, aided by three costly Raider penalties, and they finished the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 34-12 with 36 seconds remaining in the quarter.

Good Hope's offense continued to get the ball into the end zone. After Tanner Malin picked up 14 yards on the QB keeper, Anderson ripped off a 53-yard run that increased the Raider lead to 42-12. After picking off a Fairview pass, Good Hope drove 69 yards on just four plays, highlighted by a 65-yard run, then Nelson Hernandez finished the drive off with a 5-yard scamper to score Good Hope's final touchdown of the night as the lead swelled to 48-12. Fairview scored on their final series of the game on a 30-yard touchdown pass to put the final score at 48-20.

Bagwell finished with 139 yards on just nine carries and four touchdowns. Anderson was not too far behind as he had 110 yards on just five carries and two touchdowns. Hernandez had just the one carry for the touchdown.

Fairview dominated Good Hope from start to finish in a 21-0 shutout win in the JV game. The Aggies did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard as big runs and passes set them up at the 6-yard line, where they scored on a 6-yard run to put them up 7-0 with 3:45 remaining in the first quarter. After forcing a Raider punt, it took them just three plays to find the end zone again on a 15-yard run to put Fairview up 14-0 with 41 seconds remaining in the quarter. Good Hope tried to get something going on offense, as they moved the ball successfully on their next drive, but they ended up turning the ball over on downs and Fairview capitalized on that opportunity as they started on the 22-yard line and moved the ball down the field on a mixture of runs and passes, the drive ending with a 21-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 21-0 with 1:48 remaining in the first half, which would be the score at the half.

In the third quarter, Good Hope started out their first series well, with runs by Hudson Leverett, Sam Twilley and Eli Ray, and Fairview shot themselves in the foot on a pass interference call, but on 4th and 12, Good Hope's Andreas Aguilar threw an interception which brought the Raiders' amazing series to a screeching halt and that is how the third quarter ended. After forcing Fairview to punt, Aguilar could not hang on to the ball and the Aggies recovered and ran out the clock from there to preserve the shutout.

Leverett finished with 26 yards on 10 carries for Good Hope. The Raiders were held to just 53 yards on offense.
