FLORENCE – The West Point Warriors traveled north of Florence Friday night to face the Wilson Warriors in a lopsided affair. West Point came out on their first possession strong, but the game quickly spiraled out of control once Wilson took over.
West Point scored first after a series of rushes resulting in a touchdown by senior running back Cameron Moore, but missed the extra point for a quick 6-0 lead. Moore had over 50 yards rushing in the first quarter. This would be West Point's only positive drive for the half as they were forced to punt possession after possession.
The Wilson Warriors came out guns blazing behind a trio of juniors: quarterback Tucker Brown, running back Nicholas Phillips and all around offensive weapon WR/K Mark Moates.
Brown rushed for 130 yards and punched in a touch down in the first half, but Wilson looked to Nicholas Phillips to find the end zone as he scored a combined four rushing touchdowns with over 140 yards rushing on the night.
Not to be totally outdone by their teammates, Moates was good with four PATs, two touch backs and a defensive interception off of West Point quarterback Rylan Jones, while sophomore wide receiver Colby Scott capped it off with a 79-yard punt return and touchdown.
West Point's Moore punched in his second touchdown of the game late, but Wilson's ground game had already caused too much damage on the score board. The Wilson Warriors took home the victory 41-13 over West Point.
