CULLMAN – Groups like Ghostbusters: Werewolf Division travel around the state of Alabama, attending charity events and raising money for various causes while also sharing their love of Ghostbusters, the popular film franchise.

Ghostbusters has its own special subculture of organizations and groups. Ghostbusters: Werewolf Division is one of those groups.

“Our division got its start back in late May 2013; we were with another Ghostbusters group at the time,” said Kyle Stevens, a member of Ghostbusters: Werewolf Division. “One of our members mentioned that we were like a wolf pack, and one of our members suggested that we should form our own group. So, late in September back in 2015 we did just that. We were finally recognized as an official group by GhostCorps this year.”

Stevens says that being able to meld together both his love of Ghostbusters and community outreach is a dream come true.

“I, like most of our members, have been a lifelong Ghostbusters fan. This was always something that I wanted to be most of my life,” he said. “Now that we actually got a group and are going out and doing events which give back to the community, in a way, I, like the others, am living the dream.”

The Werewolf Division has 20 active members, and is looking to expand. Most of the events that the group attends are for charity, although there is another motivation as well.

“For the most part we only attend charity events. That is why we are doing it, to give back to the community and help others out in the process,” Stevens said. “But we also attend social events, like conventions and parades, to help promote awareness of the Ghostbusters fandom.”

Stevens says that the group’s main goal is to give back to the community through the costumed group, thus promoting the positive energy of costumed-fan groups. Ghostbusters: Werewolf Division travels across the state, doing many events in the Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and the Gadsden area. However, the group has attended the annual Fairview Band Car and Tractor Show the last two years.
