CULLMAN – The City of Cullman will begin a paving project at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

The first job will begin at the intersection of Second Avenue and 13th Street Northeast and continue south.

The second job will begin at the intersection of Third Avenue and Fourth Street Southeast and continue south.

Multiple sections of downtown streets are scheduled to be paved during the nighttime hours in an attempt to accommodate businesses and local traffic.

It is unknown how long the project will take, as weather delays have already been encountered, according to the street department. “Some paving was done on July 19. The plans were to continue, but rain showers each day delayed the work. The plan is to begin again tomorrow night.”

The total cost of the repaving project approved by the City is just under $900,000.

The street department thanks you for your patience and assistance as the city improves the surface of some downtown roadways.
