BAILEYTON – Word spread like wildfire on social media this morning and had local parents understandably shaken after an area school was put on lockdown.
Early this morning, Parkside Elementary received a threatening phone call from an "out of the area" phone number.
The school was locked down by the school staff and the School Resource Deputy on-site. The Cullman County Sheriff's Office has increased security at Parkside Elementary as well as other schools throughout Cullman County.
"Our children's safety is our top priority. Our investigators are currently working to track down leads on the possible caller," said Sheriff Matt Gentry.
The lockdown has since been lifted.
