Funeral services for Ruth E. Whitaker, 77, of Hanceville will be held on Thursday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home; Jimmy Sawyer officiating; with interment in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Mrs. Whitaker passed away with her family by her side on July 26 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Eli and Mildred Roberts Freeman; her husband, Duran Whitaker and siblings, Frank, Rimel, Howard, Roberta and Polly.
She is survived by son, Joel (Jayne) Whitaker; daughters, Marlo (Tom) DeMoss and Wendy (Tim) Melton; grandchildren, Freeman Joseph Whitaker, Skylar Paige DeMoss, David (Halli) Melton Jr. and Anthony Eli Melton and great grandchild, Corbin Keith Melton.
