CULLMAN – With the 2016 Cullman County Fair in the near future, the fair association awarded this year’s recipients of the annual calf project, Shelby and Sydney Sellers, $1,500 to purchase a calf, which will be shown at the fair. The Sellers sisters belong to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) of West Point High School.
This calf project is headed up by Cullman Lion Jay Conway of the Cullman County Extension Office. Each year, Cullman County agriculture teachers and 4-H clubs choose students to participate in the project. The Sellers sisters, along with their Dad Kyle Barnett, raise cattle on their farm in the West Point community.
The Cullman County Fair Association is continually upgrading its facilities in order to make them first-class places in which FFA and 4-H members can show their animals. The fair is always one of the top agricultural fairs in the state. Come to the fair this year to support the students who will participate by showing their animals.
