BRUSHY POND – At approximately 9:45 p.m. Friday night in Brushy Pond, officers responded to reports of a shooting.

According to Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, the incident began over a dispute regarding property lines.

“We’re still in the early stages of investigation,” Gentry said, “but there were two residents, neighbors, in a disagreement. At some point, both residents fired shots. While many people were at the location, the only two that were injured and struck by bullets fired were one of the shooters and an occupant who was with the injured shooter.”

The suspect who fired his weapon and was not injured fled the scene and is expected to be brought in for questioning today. Officers have spoken with the injured shooter.

“The main thing is to know that this was an isolated incident. Those in the community are fine and there is no danger to them,” Gentry said.

"There have not been any arrests made in connection with this case at this time. Therefore, there are not any mugshots of the individual. We will meet with the DA to determine the charges," said Matt Hogue of the Cullman County Sheriff's Office.
