COLONY – The Colony Town Council held a regularly scheduled meeting tonight, with council members Dorothy Graves, Alex Twitty, Jamelle Dimbo and Mayor Vernon Fields in attendance.
The meeting was short and efficient. After regular housekeeping items such as the call to order, prayer, roll call, and approval of the previous meeting’s minutes, the council quickly moved on to reports from standing committees.
Finance had nothing to report, as was the case with police and fire.
For streets and drainage, it was reported that work has begun on the patching of some holes in a street near the town hall. The work is on schedule.
Speaking for the parks and recreation committee, Twitty complimented everyone’s efforts on making the current summer program in Colony a success.
Sanitation and utilities had nothing to report.
The next matter of business was the reading of petitions, appeals, applications, complaints, communications, etc. There was nothing to report on those matters.
In resolutions, ordinances, orders and other business, the town’s voter registration list was discussed. The list will be reviewed and have necessary changes made and is to be returned to the courthouse on Wednesday, July 13.
There were no public comments.
The Colony Town Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Colony Town Hall, located at 65 Byars Road. The public is welcome to attend.
