FAIRVIEW – The Fairview Aggie marching band is set to host its Second Annual Car and Tractor Show on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Fairview Community Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The event, which was rained out last year and had to be rescheduled, has a back-up date planned for Aug. 13, just in the case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

While admission to the event is free, those who are bringing a vehicle for the show must pay a registration fee per car. That fee is $15 until the day of the event, when it increases to $20 per car.

“The worst thing about the event last year was getting rained out, really,” Band Booster Michelle Watwood said. “The best part was the spirit at the event, you know. Having community spirit and the generosity of everyone involved.”

According to Watwood, this year she and the other organizers of the event are making changes to grow the car and tractor show significantly.

“It’s going to be huge,” Watwood said. “We’re going to have 37 registered vendors. Those are arts and crafts vendors. Plus, seven food trucks at the event, and two helicopters. We will have Cullman EMS on location, CRMC will have a tent at the event, Children’s hospital will be there, as well as Life South who will be accepting blood donations.”

The event is free and anyone who walks up to Fairview Community Park the day of the event can expect to see a lot of community- and family-oriented activity, according to Watwood.

“It’s going to be a huge event, with free inflatables, live music from Jonathan Ralph, Dirt Roads, and the FFA String Band all day,” she said.

As was the case last year, the event is centered around the goal of purchasing new uniforms for the marching band, who have been performing in worn uniforms for many years. Watwood expects the necessary funds to be raised for the purchase of the new uniforms, which she anticipates purchasing in November for the 2017 football season.

“They won’t have them this year, but next year,” she said.

Donations will be accepted throughout the event at various locations in the park.

“Come anticipating family fun and a community-oriented experience,” Watwood said.
