CULLMAN – One person was arrested on Sunday and two remain at-large after a vehicle reported stolen from Walker County crashed in Cullman.

Cullman City Police officers responded to two separate calls on July 3. The first came in at 6:10 a.m. and reported an incident in which a vehicle had struck a utility pole on St. Joseph Drive. The vehicle left the scene and officers were unable to locate it at that time. They did recover vehicle parts left at the scene from the damaged vehicle.

The second call came at 8:30 a.m. from the Dollar General store located at 801 Second Ave. NW and reported a suspicious male. Officers arrived and located Joshua James Aughinbaugh. While there, officers also saw a white female go into the woods and then determined that a white male had also entered the woods.

A helicopter was used in an attempt to locate the two suspects, and during the search officers found the wrecked vehicle, a 2008 Dodge 1500 Ram truck. Officers determined the truck was stolen from Walker County.

Aughinbaugh, 29, was arrested for second-degree receiving stolen property.

The other two suspects are reportedly still at-large in Walker County. It was determined that they were able to find transportation to Dodge City, where they were picked up by an unidentified driver.

Cullman investigators will be assisting Walker County as needed in their ongoing investigation.
