CULLMAN – Alabama State Troopers and the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department are currently working the scene of a traffic incident on U.S. Highway 278 East between Berlin and Holly Pond near the Duck River Bridge and Plainview Baptist Church. The incident scene is still active; however, the road is passable, as the 18-wheeler involved is on the side of the road.
The 18-wheeler, which was hauling grain, hit the Plainview Baptist Church sign and overturned. The truck's trailer came to rest upside-down.
The driver of the truck went by private vehicle to Cullman Regional Medical Center, but his injuries are said to not be severe.
According to Berlin Fire Chief Ralph Laney, the truck trailer is being hooked up now in order for it to be turned upright and moved.
