CULLMAN – On Saturday, June 10, Cullman’s Sons of Confederate Veterans chapter, Thomas Jefferson Denney Camp 1442, will host the Yellowhammer Classic Golf Tournament at TP Country Club. The charity tournament will benefit Children’s of Alabama and Cullman Caring for Kids.
The event, scheduled to start at 8 a.m., is being organized by Mike Eddy.
Although this is the first event that Eddy has overseen, he owns and manages a golf driving range in Jones Chapel, and he said he is well-experienced with gold and golf tournaments which is helping him organize this event.
“I volunteered to have this event in Cullman,” said Eddy. “I am the statewide coordinator for this event. We hope to bring in a lot of people to this event. We are selling Terri Pines, we are selling Cullman, to those who are just visiting,” he said, explaining how this event will be somewhat of a tourist attraction for the county.
Eddy estimates that he and his fellow volunteers will be able to raise $5,000 for the two charities.
“This a 100 percent charity event,” Eddy said. “This will also be one of (Terri Pines’) bigger events of the year.”
The event will be a “shotgun start,” according to Eddy, with four-man teams. Players can register individually or arrive the day of the event with teammates.
Registration is $100 per player and is tax-deductible.
“We have a maximum of 22 four-man teams. If you do not have a team but want to play, don’t worry. Just show up and sign up and we will match you up with a team,” Eddy said.
To register, call Mike Eddy at 256-673-1429, or visit the Cullman County Museum.
TP Country Club is located at 700 Pine Hill Drive in Cullman.
