CULLMAN – Vandals have once again targeted Sportsman Lake Park. On Monday, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office responded to the park, where multiple incidences of vandalism were reported.
Several areas at the park were hit with paintballs, and suspects were seen in and around the public restrooms on motorcycles.
“There were paintballs shot in several different places in the park, in the bathrooms, along with (the suspects) carrying two motorcycles into the public restrooms, doing damage,” said Cullman County Parks and Recreation Director Doug Davenport.
It has not been confirmed on what days the paintball damage occurred; however, the motorcycles were known to have been in the public restrooms at the park on Sunday evening, thanks to the park’s video surveillance system.
Yesterday, the CCSO released the following statement, “The Cullman County Sheriff's Office has made several arrests in the vandalism that occurred last night at Sportsman Lake Park. We will release more information tomorrow. Thank you all for your tips.”
The CCSO has yet to release any additional information other than to say that they are “securing warrants for the individuals involved.”
The investigation is ongoing.
This is not the first time Sportsman Lake Park has been hit by vandals. Last December, several of the inflatable holiday decorations in the park were slashed.
