Obituary: Robert Lee “Bob” Martin

Robert Lee “Bob” Martin, age 86, of Blountsville, died on April 3, 2016, at Saint Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County. Mr. Martin was predeceased by his parents, Elmer Thomas and Myrtha Blackwell Martin, a sister, Elizabeth Grimwood and six brothers, Jack Martin, Henry Martin, Allen Martin, Ned Martin, Tom Martin and Dan Martin.

Mr. Martin served in the United States Army. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral services were on April 5, 2016, at Blountsville Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. Reverend Durwood Graves officiated. Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery, in Blountsville.

Survivors include: a son, Jack and wife, Kim Martin, of Blountsville; a daughter, Anita Bannister and husband, Ricky Kent, of Royal; five grandchildren, Amanda Bannister, Matt Bannister, Chad Martin, Brandon Martin and Brittney and husband, Josh McAlpine; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Johnson, of West Virginia and two brothers, Sid and wife, Ivalee Martin and Simon and wife, Helen Martin, all of Blountsville.

Pallbearers were: Chad Martin, Brandon Martin, Josh McAlpine, David Black, Matt Bannister and Jason Clay.
